November has been a pretty intensive month in many different regards: from my parents visiting The Netherlands for the first time, to my partner and I moving in together to a new apartment. Besides, we’re getting closer and closer to the end of the year, which means there are some cosy events I am looking forward to 🎄🍷.
In September, I traveled to Italy with my partner. Here are some of the pictures I took at the time, finally seeing the light of the day. I took many other pictures, and it is very hard to choose what to show. Italy is such a beautiful country. We visited Napoli, Roma, Firenze, Pisa, Venezia, Bologna, Milano and Bergamo.
Some months ago I went to Leiden, took some pictures and stored them in my hard drive. However, I’ve used some of these as wallpapers lately, such as the one with the fish 🐟. I thought it would be nice to share as I think they’re quite pleasant!
Back when I went to Portugal in August, my parents and I were at a restaurant with a very nice view of the ocean. However, no one expected that just under thirty minutes after the ocean would bring extreme fog, completely obstructing the view. It was quite incredible to see the onset of such a foggy view from such perspective.
August is ending and with it, most people’s summer vacations. It’s time for school, university and work again. However, I did not have that much of a vacation yet.
July is ending for most of us in a few hours and August will start. This is when most people go for vacation and have their summer holidays. Let’s look at what I’ve been doing during July, which has been a very very busy month - I feel like I’ve been saying this every month.
May was a loooong month in the sense that a lot happened. It is crazy to think that we’re now starting the sixth month of 2022, which means that we’re nearing the first semester of this year. It feels like it just started.
April is quickly coming to an end and… what a month it was! From Portugal to London, from thesis progress to assisting in classes, from movies to musicals, April was a packed month!
Now that I’ve crossed the English Channel (or Canal da Mancha, in Portuguese) by train twice, I must say that it was a very nice experience. From Rotterdam to London, it takes approximately 3h30m, including a ~30 minutes stop in Brussels.
However, I also have some notes that may not apply to everyone: (1) it would be much quicker to get a flight directly from Eindhoven that takes 1h to get to London, (2) the security and border procedures at Rotterdam are quick, (3) the security and border procedures in London are a bit slower, (4) you need to be some time in advance at the station, just like the airport.
Nevertheless, it was a good experience and I would recommend it! It’s much more comfortable than a plane and better for the environment. Unfortunately, it’s also much more expensive! If you buy it in advance though, it can be worth it!
It is the end of February and it is unbelievable. It feels like 2022 started yesterday, yet here we are: in the end of one more month. I feel like I say this every month though.
October started with a very nice trip to Paris, France. I was there from the 1st of October to the 3rd. We went by bus and it was quite a journey. Around 8 hours each way.
The week after, I had some Intro+ parties and activities. Intro+ was organized by the university for students that enrolled last year. It was quite fun: there was a pub crawl on the Thursday and then a party on Friday. I didn’t go Saturday, but I really do not regret the decision 😂.
August was a busy month. I fly back to the Netherlands quite in the beginning of the month so I could get my second Covid-19 vaccine, which caused a mild fever overnight but was pretty fine overall.
This year has been passing way too fast. In the beginning, I felt the urge to finish the academic year. Now, I’m only one month away to the beginning of my (hopefully) last year of university. Exciting projects may happen this year and I’m here for it.
Maastricht turned out to be quite a magical little city close to the border with Belgium. There was a lot of greenery and old buildings.
