It is unbelievable that 1/12 of the year has already gone by. I came back to the Netherlands in the beginning of the month and I’ve been able to achieve quite a few things last month.
Just finished reading the romance “Red, White and Royal Blue” from Casey McQuiston. In this book, Casey creates an hypothetical situation where the First Son of the US and the Prince of the UK would fall in love with each other, as well as the political and diplomatic outcomes from that.
Just finished reading “Before the coffee gets cold” by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. It is, yet again, a book that falls into the magical realism domain. In this book, the story takes place in a little cafΓ© in Tokyo. In this cafΓ©, there is a special seat where people can seat and travel in time.
Lately, I have been reading a bit more. Therefore, I wanted to be able to post more about it and track the progress. This is something I used to do before with Goodreads, but I have since stopped using it. The logical solution? Implement more features on my website. Why not?
Today, I finished reading “The House in the Cerulean Sea” by TJ Klune and I was just want to say that it was beautifully constructed.
Today, I finished reading “O Ano da Morte de Ricardo Reis” (The Year of The Death of Ricardo Reis in English) by JosΓ© Saramago, while on a train from Den Haag to Eindhoven, after visiting the Portuguese embassy.

In 2021, I scrobbled 19 256 times, with an average of 53 scrobbles per day. In total, I listened to 46 days and 9 hours of music. My most popular genres, from the most popular to the least popular, are pop, electronic, dance, indie and lo-fi.
Once again, a year is ending. It feels like it was yesterday that I was first discovering the IndieWeb and adding new features to my website, but that was 2 years ago now. Time has been passing quite fast since the pandemic started.
November was so busy that I did not even manage to write this in time! The month started with GLOW, the Eindhoven Light Festival. Unfortunately, due to the announced measures during the last day of the festival, the lights were shut down a day before. Due to that, I was not able to see more than half of it.
In 2015, I posted an article with a very similar name to this one. At the time, I was saying goodbye to WordPress and welcoming Hugo. As with everything in life, there are cycles and things change. It’s time to turn a new page on this website’s life cycle.
I am creating a new Micropub endpoint for my website and I read the specification. However, while testing the update action, something unexpected happened. The specification is not quite clear to whether we should deeply-traverse the update and update field by field, or solely replace the top-level keys.
Today I have been thinking about my website. Mainly about ditching Hugo and moving to a completely custom and dynamic website. There are a few reasons about why I would like more flexibility. However, I don’t know if it justifies the effort.
October started with a very nice trip to Paris, France. I was there from the 1st of October to the 3rd. We went by bus and it was quite a journey. Around 8 hours each way.
The week after, I had some Intro+ parties and activities. Intro+ was organized by the university for students that enrolled last year. It was quite fun: there was a pub crawl on the Thursday and then a party on Friday. I didn’t go Saturday, but I really do not regret the decision π.
YubiKeys are hardware authentication devices that can be used with many applications, such as GPG, SSH and for 2 factor authentication. I have owned quite a few over the past years and recently I decided to upgrade them to the NFC version so I can use them with my mobile devices.
September has been quite a busy month, a rollercoaster for sure, but a good one. It all started in the first week with the new students coming to campus for their introduction activities. I don’t think I’ve seen the campus so vibrant until that day.
