Until last week, there was an activity at the municipal library where you could make a 3D model of a Christmas tree decoration, and get it 3D printed. I didn’t know about it until my partner, who volunteers there, told me. I went!

One year later, here am I again with my “Year in Popcorn” post. This year, it will look a bit different: there will be less graphics and data. I no longer use Trakt to track movies, only my watches page. And even in Trakt, I have not religiously marked episodes as watched the same day as I watched them.

Doing a quick search on my website yields almost no results for “coffee”. And I find it quite strange that I’ve never talked about coffee here, especially during the past two years. During the past two or three years, I went from basically not drinking any coffee to buying filter coffee equipment, to now owning an espresso machine. Today I want to focus on filter coffee.

Similarly to last year, here am I again to share with you some statistics about my music listening habits. A few weeks ago, I also published my Spotify Wrapped, but since I do not trust it completely, here am I again, with the full data from Last.fm.

Some months ago, I dabbled with the idea of changing from Migadu to a more generic e-mail solution that includes official support for CalDAV and CardDAV. After quite some time procrastinating, I have finally settled on trying out Fastmail.

December is coming to an end, and with it so is 2023. In general, it’s been quite an incredible year, marking my first year post-university, which always brings a lot of changes to one’s life. Allied with living in another country, trying to learn the language, traveling, a lot has happened, and there is a lot to be grateful for.

Around a week ago, I decided to take a look at IRC again, and setup an IRC bouncer. After some search, I settled on going with soju as my IRC bouncer, and gamja as a nice web frontend. Since I use Caddy and Docker in my server, but neither provides a Dockerfile, I thought sharing my setup with the world could be useful.

Vandaag ga ik met iets nieuws op deze website beginnen: een post series in het Nederlands waarin ik over mijn ervaring met leren van het Nederlands schrijf. Vergelijkbaar met mijn “Recently” series, ga ik een post per maand schrijven. Dat is niet te veel, maar ik hoop dat genoeg is om met mijn Nederlands te helpen verbeteren.

Last year, Chris and I visited Aachen’s Christmas market and I wrote a bit about it. In the article, I mentioned I was looking forward to similar adventures. Well, it has happened! Last weekend, we went to Köln to visit some of its Christmas markets, and it was amazing!

November is almost gone. It was quite of a slow month, so I had more time to spend working on this website, or in watching series - maybe too many. Let’s dive into it.

James shared his Spotify Wrapped and prompted others to do the same. Usually, I would wait for the beginning of January to also collect my Last.fm data, but I can do that later and still include Spotify’s information there.

Since a few months ago, my website has a dark theme. So today I decided to casually open a PR to the darktheme.club website. On this PR, it is asked what mechanism is used to enable the dark mode. I selected JavaScript. It is unfortunate, but it is a reality.

Learning a new language is interesting. There are new words. New structures. New verbs. New adjectives. New ways of explaining things. New ways of categorising things. New ways of describing things. New ways of thinking.

For some, it may come as a surprise that my website’s source code is not open-source. That hasn’t, however, always been the case. Before I fully switching to my custom CMS - named Eagle -, it did use to be open-source.

During the past week and a half, I have been slowly, but surely, doing some cleanup of my GitHub repositories. In the process, I finally decided to tick off some of the items from my list, such as using vanity Go import URLs, improving my IndieAuth library, as well as releasing a Micropub package.
